Q: How is the Advanced Planning and Scheduling System able to deal with projections for future production (MTS)?
A: Look at the diagram shown below the Line connecting orders production and purchases diagram" (same as the diagram on the previous page).
For projections on production in the future we first use the table of orders scheduled for medium-term scheduling (to be described later) to generate make-to-order from internal unofficial data and forecasts on demand. Later we connect the inventory by line in the same way as ordered production to generate the purchase orders and to schedule. From those results as preparations for production the orders of material for products having long delivery terms are issued and the load within the plant is checked. The results show that the plant should move in line with schedule results and begin production of parts and products even before confirmed orders come in. When the confirmed orders do come in we switch over from orders forecast by the order schedule sheet to confirmed orders and we reschedule. From the line-connected state we check for excessive deficiencies in products parts and purchased products to adjust for the fluctuations between forecast orders and confirmed orders.
