Copy and paste

Steps

Copy and Paste

You can copy and paste cells in table windows and in the properties window. You can also copy and paste data between Asprova and other applications such as Excel.

Copy and paste behavior differs depending on applications from and to which you copy and paste and also the range you selected to copy and paste.

Basically, when you select and copy rows in an Asprova's table window, the objects corresponding to those rows will be put in the clipboard as a whole and the copied objects will be inserted and pasted as a whole when pasting is executed in another Asprova's table window.

In cases where you copy only part of cells in a row instead of an entire row or where you copy and paste between Asprova and another application, the contents of the selected cells will be copied. If you paste copied data to another application, the data will be pasted in tab delimited format.

Below is the list of behaviors depending on selected ranges to copy and paste.

Behavior when Inserting Copied Rows

When you copy rows while they are selected, three types of menu items will be displayed for inserting the copied rows.
The objects in the clipboard will be inserted above or below the selected range or they are inserted as child objects.

Example

Copy objects in two rows as in the diagram below.

Selecting [Insert Copied Row (Above)] from the popup menu will insert and paste the copied rows above the selected range.

Selecting [Insert Copied Row (Below)] from the popup menu will insert and paste the copied rows below the selected range.

Selecting [Insert Copied Row (Child)] from the popup menu will insert and paste the copied rows as child objects below the bottom child object of the parent object at the top of the selected range.

When rows are not copied, three types of insert menus will appear.
Blank new objects will be inserted above or below the selected range or as child objects as many as the number of rows you selected.
The class of objects to add will be determined based on the class of the parent object. (Usually, objects of the same class as that of the parent object will be generated. )

Example

Selecting [Insert (Above)] from the popup menu will insert blank rows above the selected range.

Selecting [Insert (Below)] from the popup menu will insert blank rows below the selected range.

Selecting [Insert (Child)] from the popup menu will insert blank rows as many as the number of rows you selected as child objects below the bottom child object of the parent object at the top of the selected range.

M:N Copy and Paste of Cells

When cells are selected, copied, and pasted, the cells will be copied and pasted as follows if the size of the selected range to paste is different from the size of the copied range.

When only a single cell is selected for pasting

All the copied data will be pasted.

When the range smaller than the copied range is selected for pasting

Copied data will be pasted only for the range selected for pasting. The rest of the data will not be pasted.

When the range larger than the copied range is selected for pasting

Copied data will be pasted repeatedly to fill the selected range for pasting.

Recursive Copying of Objects

When rows are selected, copied, and pasted, related objects such as child objects will also be copied (recursively) depending on kinds of objects. Related objects will be pasted when pasting copied data.

Objects to be copied recursively are as follows.

ClassObjects to be copied recursively
Scheduling parameterChild command, resource evaluation, sequence control evaluation rule objects
Data I/OField mapping related settings
Event conditionEvent counter
Sequence control evaluation ruleSequence control evaluation keys

Objects other than those stated above will not be copied recursively. For example, you can copy orders and items but operations and master data of the orders and items will not be copied.

Copy and Paste in Text Format

When data is copied and pasted in text format, the data will be copied as tab delimited text.
Tab delimited data can be pasted to Asprova's table views and text editors and also to Excel finely. The format of each field is as shown in the text on the screen.

Copy of column header

Setting the "Column header copy expression" property in the display settings makes it possible to copy column headers.
For example, if you set the following in the column header copy expression, ME being a property definition, the display name or alias of the property definition is copied to the clipboard.

GetObjectName( ME )

For example, if you select a line in the order table and copy and paste it in a text editor, Excel, etc., the first line becomes as follows.

##Order codeOrder type
 1Manufacturing order
 2Manufacturing order

## in the first column is a fixed string for ignoring that line when pasting in Asprova.

If the column header copy expression is set, whether or not to copy the column header to the clipboard is determined as follows.

Selected areaCopy method
Ctrl+CPopup Menu
Copy
Popup Menu
Menu Copy (with Column Headers)
Entire spreadsheetYesNoYes
Several rows?NoYes
Several columnsNoNoYes
Several cellsNoNoYes

Copy and Paste of the Integrated Master

When Integrated Master rows are copied from the Integrated Master screen, the contents of the selected rows will be copied in text format.

The text format when copying integrated master lines differs from that of other tables in that the format of the Enum fields is the second character string of the “Enum definition” property of the property definition. This is a language-independent string used when importing/exporting integrated master tables.

Example: Instruction types are displayed as "Use instruction", "Input instruction", and "Output instruction" on the screen, but they are written as "U", "I", and "O" when copying to Excel.

Clearing the clipboard

To clear the clipboard, please press the ESC key.
When the clipboard is cleared, the menu item [Insert Copied Row] will change to just [Insert].
