Properties window

Global Windows

The properties window displays the properties and contents of the data settings for the target object. For example, if you select a use instruction bar on the resource Gantt chart, properties of the use instruction you selected will be displayed. If you select the order Gantt chart and click the [Display Settings] button, properties of the display settings for the order Gantt chart are displayed in the properties window.

You can open the properties window in dialog form. (By default, the properties window is set to be displayed in dialog form.)

Items in Properties Window

The properties window provides the following items:

Property

Name of this property. If multiple values exist in the property, such as an array value, ([+] or [-]) is displayed on the left of the property name.
If you left-click on [+], values at one level lower than the current property value are expanded and displayed. If you left-click on [-], the messages at the lower level are closed.
Also, if [=>] is shown on the left of a property name, left-clicking [=>] will jump to the object to which the property points to.
Placing the mouse cursor over an item will display its description in a data tip (Ver. 13 and later).

Type

Type of the property value. Usually, this column is hidden.

Value

Contents of the property.
Usually, this field displays a property value as it is and you can edit the value directly. Note however, that the contents of the field vary depending on the property.
If the background color of the property value is gray, it means that the property is read-only.

  • If the type of a property value is an enum whose value can be chosen from multiple values, you can select the value from the dropdown list box.
  • If there is a dialog that is exclusively used for editing the property value, click on the dialog mark [...] to display the dialog in which you can edit or check the property value.
  • If the type of a property value is an array or object list, all the values or the number of all the object codes are displayed. If you left-click on [+] to expand one level lower, the values or the object list will be displayed.
  • If the type of a property value is an object, the code of a corresponding object is displayed. If you click on [=>] on the left of the property name, the corresponding object is displayed in the properties window.
  • If the type of a property value is Boolean, a checkbox is shown. Checking the box makes the value true (on) and unchecking the box makes the value false (off).

Description

Brief description of the property.
Normally, this is not displayed (Ver. 13 and later).

Select and display expression properties(After Ver.11.0.2, Ver.12 restricted feature)

If expression properties has been set to value of standard registered expressions or user registered expressions, the code of expressions will be displayed in the cells.
* When you do input, copy, paste, find or replace values in the cells, it will be handled as the expression rather than as code.

Standard registered expressions and user registered expression will also be displayed in the combo box's list.
You can set the expression by selecting the items in the combo box.

User registered expressions can be added in the Expression dialog.

Properties Window Operations

You can change width of each column in the properties window.
Placing the cursor on the boundary of columns on the column header part and dragging the mouse to the right or left with the left mouse button results in increasing or decreasing the width.
If you select multiple columns and change width as above, all the selected columns will have the same width.

Zoom

Clicking on the properties window and rolling the mouse wheel with holding down the Ctrl key will display the properties window at a different zoom factor. If the mouse does not have a wheel, you can change the zoom factor by specifying a value for the Zoom property in the properties window.

Jump

When you jump from the properties window dialog to another object by clicking the arrow ("=>") next to an object type property, a new properties window dialog will be opened. You can open the properties window dialog in multiple windows.

Change the order of array property value

The order of array property value can be changed by mouse on the properties window dialog. (Ver.11.0.0 restricted feature)

For example, there are 5 comment values for a resource. Try to move the 4th comment up to 2nd comment.
You can move the mouse to the target property value, then drag and drop the target property value to the desired position.

Also you can select more than one property values and move it to the desired position with mouse.

Custom Display

The index part of description, array type, and object list is shown during drilldown can be customized.

Custom Description

User specified description property found from property definition can used to specify custom description strings. (From Ver.7.1.0)

User specified description property contains the following arrays:

The user specified text string at Index [1] is the property description. In the case of an array, the string becomes the overall description for the array.
The indexes starting from Index [2] are intended for array use only.
The user specified text string at Index [2] is the description for Index [1], and Index [3] is the description for Index [2] (i.e. description is aligned by one cell).
If no text string is specified, the text string at the Index [1] of user specified description property is shown.
In the case of an empty text string, the description of properties window is displayed.

Please specify a description using user specified description property (From Ver.7.1.0). For array type, it is possible to specify description for each cell in the array.

Customizing the array type

For array type, index number is shown during drilldown. Using enumeration child type property, custom text can be displayed instead of just an index number. (From Ver.7.1.0)

The indexes of enumeration child type property correspond with that of property indexes (e.g. text string at Index [1] of enumeration child type is shown in place of index number (i.e. Index [1]) of the corresponding property).
When enumeration child type is set, newly added rows become invisible.
If no text string is specified or the text string is empty, index number is displayed instead.

*** Neither user specified description property nor enumeration child type can be used as a part of parent or child objects. If used, Asprova will be restarted and the data is cleared.

Display color of properties window

The background color of body rows and the text color of properties can be customized.

The background color of properties window

When selecting View - Display color settings... from the main menu, there is a "table" tab in the properties window.

Setting "Properties window - body" and "Properties window - enumeration" properties in table tab, the background color can be changed

(From Ver.7.1.0).

"Properties window - body" property specifies the background color to be displayed in the body rows of properties window. If "Properties window - enumeration" is also set, this property is given precedence.
The property index corresponding with the index of "Properties window - enumeration" property is displayed (e.g. the color set at Index [1] of "Properties window - enumeration" property is used to display the corresponding child row (i.e. Index [1]))
If there is no value specified in some index of "Properties window - enumeration" property, the corresponding child row is displayed using the color specified in Index [1]. In the case of an empty color expression, the expression at Index [1] is used.

Cell value color and text color

Background color expression and text color expression properties found from property definition can be used to specify the cell value color and text color (From Ver.7.1.0).

The color expression at Index [1] specifies the background and text color. For array type, the specified color is used for all cells (background and text).
The indexes starting from Index [2] are intended for array use only.
The user specified expression at Index [2] determines the color for Index [1], and the expression at Index [3] determines the color for Index [2] (i.e. the color is aligned by one cell).
If no text string is specified, the text string at the Index [1] of user specified description property is shown.

Properties window tab

Properties are displayed by category using a tab representing that category. Clicking a tab switches the properties window to display the properties that belong to the category which the tab represents.
Tabs to be displayed vary depending on the object you selected.

Tab display and hidden tabs

It is possible to specify whether a certain tab is shown in properties window.
It is possible to specify whether a certain tab is shown in properties window. This can be accomplished by setting a hidden flag found in style table (From Ver.7.1.0).
