Overview

Asprova MS Light is a version in which the more advanced features of Asprova MS are optional. The default features are enough to create a minimal schedule.
Scheduling settings are limited to the basic forward or backwards options, and fine tuning of the schedule can be carried out manually on the resource Gantt chart.

Characteristics

With no options added, Asprova MS Light is capable of the following:

Creating scheduled from a few months to a few years
Scheduling up to 100,000 operations ( please consider using Asprova MS or Asprova APS if there are more than 100,000 operations )
No limit on number of processes per item (merging processes are allowed)
Graphical display and manipulation of the schedule through resource, order, inventory charts/graphs etc
Importing and exporting all tables
Customization and plug-ins using the COM interface

Asprova MS Light options

Below are the options specific to MS Light. If all of these options are enabled, the program will function the same as a normal MS license.

OptionDescriptionReferences
Auto-replenishmentGenerates orders as necessary to replenish when inventory quantities would go below the safety-stock level.
Production size MAX or an order size for a time period can be set. Used by setting the auto-replenishment flag of items. From Ver.5.2.1 the one-to-one type options for auto-replenishment are available as standard.
For details, see the version history at the bottom of this page.
Auto replenishment
Order explosion and auto replenishment
Safety inventory
Period grouping of orders
Scheduling CommandAllows detailed customization of the structure of scheduling parameters.
Commands can be added, changed, and deleted.
It is also possible to combine multiple scheduling parameters.
This allows sophisticated assignment.
It is also possible to use custom menus and custom tool bars.
Command editor dialog
Composite scheduling
Creating an import command only for sales orders
Toolbar customize dialog
Sub ResourceAllows assignment to more than one resource concurrently for an operation.
eg. Main resource + worker, main resource + worker + die etc.
Setting a subresource
Specifying metal molds and processing tools
Specifying a worker
Branching ProcessesAllows assignment of processes which produce multiple outputs.Expressing a Branching Process
Operation splittingAllows splitting of operations.Operation split
Splitting an operation
Splitting an operation by specifying a split number
Splitting an operation by specifying a split ratio
Carrying out split operations in parallel
Specifying the minimum and maximum quantities a resource can produce at once

Scheduling parameter

Asprova MS Light uses the following parameters for scheduling

Forward schedule

Assigns starting from the first process and works forwards. Attempts to have operations start as soon as possible

Backward schedule

Assigns starting from the final process and works backwards. Attempts to assign operations as close to the due date as possible

Mixed direction scheduling

The assignment direction for each order is dependent on various characteristics such as priority

The dispatching rules available for each of these parameters are shown below. Dispatching order settings should be given as shown on the right-hand column

 Forward schedule
Mixed direction schedule
  Backward schedule
Order due date (ascending)  Order due date (descending)
Spec 1 (ascending)  Spec 1 (descending)
Spec 2 (ascending)  Spec 2 (descending)
Spec 3 (ascending)  Spec 3 (descending)
Spec 4 (ascending)  Spec 4 (descending)

With all of these parameters, load leveling, setup time minimization, wait time minimization, late time minimization, and production time minimization are all considered by the resource evaluation.

Custom scheduling parameters

If the Scheduling command option is not present, this scheduling parameter will be available by default.
Initially this will be the same as the 'Forward scheduling' parameter, but can be arranged to suit.
Initially this will be the same as the 'Forward scheduling' parameter, but can be arranged to suit.

Customers who have an Asprova for TPiCS or Asprova for ALPHASE license

From Ver. 6.2.1, the “Scheduling parameter option” has been made into a standard feature in standalone MS Light, but it remains an optional feature in Asprova for TPiCS and Asprova for ALPHASE.

OptionDescriptionReferences
Scheduling parameter (Asprova for TPiCS, Asprova for ALPHASE only)Priorities such as resource priority, load leveling, on-time delivery minimization, setup time minimization, and so on, can be set.
Further, infinite capacity assignment, order and process filtering assignment, and so on, can be customized.
Custom scheduling parameters are available.

Version history

*Asprova MS Light is available from December 2008, and is released independent from other third party ERP solutions
*From Ver. 6.2.1, the “Scheduling parameter option” has been made into a standard feature in standalone Asprova MS Light, but it remains an optional feature in Asprova for TPiCS and Asprova for ALPHASE.
*From Ver.5.3.1, MS Light is compatible with Asprova NLS (Network License Server) and Asprova DS (Data Server).
*When MS Light is installed as a trial or demo installation, all the options for MS Light listed above will be present, so the effect is the same as having an MS license. To test the applicability of the program with only some options present, these options can be separately enabled or disabled on the User Registration dialog (under the Help menu) From Ver. 5.3.0, it is possible to remove the options in the User Registration Information dialog started by menu [Help]-[User Registration].
*From Ver.5.2.1 the one-to-one type options for auto-replenishment are available as standard.
Even without the auto-replenishment option, the following enumerators for the auto-replenish flag of items are available as a standard feature.
Yes (one-to-one production), Yes (inventory + one-to-one production), Yes (supply-demand adjustment one-to-one production)
*From Ver. 15.1.0.74, the [Auto-replenish flag] property for items is displayed in the GUI even if there is no auto-replenishment option.
